Country for shipping calculation :. All our regularly priced used vinyl goes through and 10 minute Ultra Sonic cleaning the best cleaning and is then graded visually under bright light, with a partial play grading when deemed nessary. We encourage you to view all the pictures and read our comments on the conditions, as we find these to be more beneficial than a standard grade.

Vinyl - only given to sealed records, or records we personally acquired new, opened them but never played. Of course since the record is sealed we cannot guarantee there are no pressing flaws or minor warping, and since all the sealed records we sell are out of print, we cannot except returns or exchanges on sealed records that have been opened.

Cover - has some very minor cosmetic issue, like a light crease, light ring wear, nothing that is very noticeable. May have light surface noise such as pops, clicks and crackles but it should be occasional and not consistent and not overwhelming. May have light warping but it should not affect the play. Cover - will have noticeable wear such as ring wear, seam splitting, writing on cover, creases, etc. Could be a couple items not all and they should not be major. Vinyl - will look VERY played, have lot of marks, scuffs, scratches possibly deep , play with noticeable maybe even consistent background noise but is still listenable.

May have warping but it should not affect play. The tsamikos is named after the Cam tribes of Albania. According to Bhattacharya, who recorded him there in October , he was a Rom. The population of Mikro Dasos in fact consisted almost entirely of refugees who were forcibly transferred after from the Black Sea area of present-day Turkey, known to Greeks as Pontus.

Some of the tunes Trig played are typical Pontic tunes which have no musical connection with any other kind of Greek music. Whether Trig was his true surname is a moot point. I have a Greek friend in Uppsala who was born in a neighbouring village.

Last year he went to Mikro Dasos on my behalf to ask about Dino Trig the bouzouki player. Nobody had the slightest remembrance of such a person. It is known that Rom people may guard certain words very secretly, not revealing them to anyone outside their own tribe.

The name Trig is not to be found anywhere in Greece — but could conceivably be either a joke trick! These are my own ruminations; Dino Trig was the first bouzouki player to capture my imagination 40 years ago.

They are isolated phenomena today. The form may go back to the dawn of Epirote history, after the Trojan War. Incredibly, laments like this one for clarion and voice — usually pentatonic — are occasional table songs at marriages.

The squalling note of the karamusa flared reed pipes made of walnut — see cover is common all over Greece and the Balkans. The drum is a tupan. In Greece this is not a virtuoso performance; this is popular music.

It is an example of a popular song composed in a folkdance metre, whose musical substance has basically no connection whatever with the demotic idiom other than its metre.

The melancholy style of local singing is said to have resulted from the constant male depopulation. TK Grotesque? I wonder what he means. It usually uses the tonic minor chord, its relative major, and the dominant chord of the minor key. Turkish influence is unmistakable, but Greek musical enius transcends it. Concert Tickets. If this is a concern of yours you can contact us and ask us. Even Kevin Gray don't want to tell me what is it really. He did this work : "I have not been at liberty to reveal sources on mastering since around Consider this answering your question without directly addressing your question".

Anyone who can give information about these reissue who help a lot of people who spend a lot of money to get them. Thanks for the help. Kevin Gray cut the lacquers, and the vinyl was pressed at Quality Records. I think the guy "robert" is full of it, and doesn't know anything about this series.

All the printed materials say "from the original mastertapes". I don't believe in conspiracy theories, why would Kevin convert the tapes to digital files? The packaging is replicated to the finest detail, they knew what they are doing.

But believe whatever you want. The fact is, these are obviously not from analog tape. Just listen to 'Cool Struttin' and compare to any analog sourced version, and all the hallmarks of a digital source are there.

It sounds nothing at all like an analog original. Another fact. There never was a true mono master for many of these. Those Wayne Shorter titles, for example, were all recorded only in stereo, RVG did a simple fold down to produce a mono version.

Third fact. These were widely anticipated in Japan, but soon after they came out, a number of independent specialist retailers in Japan stopped selling them, citing the dubiousness of the sources, indeed, some audio journalists published in Japan did a detailed comparison to originals, and also expressed serious doubts about the validity of the sources. Doxy and WaxTimes can claim their junk is sourced from the original tapes too, after all, the CD they use to master comes from the original tape.

Kevin Gray didn't convert the mono tapes to digital. That belies a lack of understanding of how cutting to vinyl works. He never had the original mono tapes. All your speculation is cute. Kevin Gray told me himself he cut them from the tapes, so yeah, believe whatever you want. I m waiting for an answer of Mr Michael Fremer. I got rid of them, I have sold them. I didn't trust and don't like what I read about them and also didn't like the sound like Cd I think Blue note sound on my mind is more "dirty" with some "saturation" sometimes.

With these mono false mono too much clean and uniform. It's my opinion, it doesn't mean I m right. But to much confusion and poor information about the source. This is one of the most useful threads on the website. But it is so long that it has become difficult to mine for relevant information. Could some enterprising person create a table with columns for Reissue Label, Overall Reliability, and Comments? So, like probably many people I thought buying or gram remastered vinyl was a good thing.

Yesterday I compared the Beatles White Album, original and gram remastered and now I'm checking all my newly purchased remastered vinyl. The original purchased White Album was far superior to the remastered gram from sound Soundstage Direct. The low end was muddy thought it was my old ears at first , sloppy mid and highs.

The question is, is there an easy way to identify if the vinyl is reproduced from original tapes or was there an engineer somewhere remastering them to suit his own ears? Search form Search. Analog Corner. News News Analog Gear News. Record Buying Tips.
